ONE OF CANADA’S MOST RECOGNIZED VOICES IN RADIO
Alan has been referred to as Canada’s resident rock music expert after a career dating back more than 40 years as radio host, writer, reporter, and interviewer. He is best known as host of the syndicated radio series The Ongoing History of New Music, Canada’s longest running radio documentary, and as an on-air personality at Toronto’s CFNY and the legendary Q107.
From his origins in a small town in Manitoba, to the big city, Alan has been obsessed with good audio and with music. And as Alan puts it, once you get on the audiophile train, there is no end.
What started with falling asleep with a transistor radio by his pillow, has turned into a lifelong love and contributed to becoming the host and creator of Canada's longest running music documentary show, The Ongoing History of New Music.
According to Alan, Widex hearing aids bring the world to life. As he explains, "you can participate even better than you had ever participated before...it's like the world has come alive around you."
Hearing aids can help users reconnect with their world. "I think what happens when a somebody regains their sense of hearing through a set of hearing aids is that they become more present in the real world." Alan experienced this personally when he witnessed his mother's hearing improve dramatically when fitted with hearing aids.
Alan is an advocate for hearing all the nuances the world of sound has to offer. When Alan tried Widex hearing aids, he was able to identify sounds and nuances that were previously unnoticeable. "I have been using them to listen to music and somehow they are able to pull out all the stuff...that I didn't know were there. I heard the guitarist's fingerprints slide up and down the guitar strings."
